TAILORED GARMENTS: PRESSING & SEWING SECRETS
3 Hour Workshop: Intermediate Sewing Level
Thursday, Oct. 21, 9 am 12 noon
Get the scoop on proper pressing as you discover techniques that sewing
professionals use to create quality tailored pants, skirts, shirts and jackets. Create samples as you learn to… sew waistbands that don't roll; when to use interfacing in hems and how to sew a hem invisibly; create mitred corners; sew and press to allow for turn of the cloth; use a point presser for opening collar seams; perfect edgestitching and topstitching.
FLATTERING PRINCESS LINE VEST
6 Hour Workshop: Advanced Beginner to Intermediate
Wednesday, October 20, 12:30 pm 7 pm
The princess seam is flattering for all figure types and so easy to fit. See how a few body measurements will help you align the princess curve to your body. It's quick to add or subtract width for the bust area and to lower or raise the curve on the pattern. Measure your body, then fit yourself by trying the adjusted pattern by sewing a muslin test copy. Pockets are closed with an invisible zipper and hidden in the princess seam. A stand up collar and
Zippered front complete this very wearable vest!
FEARLESS T-SHIRTS: Construction & Fit
4 Hour Workshop: All Skill Levels
Sunday, October 24, 9 am 1 pm. The t-shirt has become a sophisticated and must-have wardrobe item -- we all long for one that has the perfect cut. Ce’s new pattern is designed with a European highcut underarm, ease in the bust area and extra width across the back shoulders. Bust and hip measurements aid in selecting the correct size before you cut and sew the test copy. Then make further refinements as we fit the t-shirt. Once you have a basic, easily change necklines and sleeves. Learn how to select the right knits for the pattern and tweak the pattern to compensate for the degree of stretch in the fabric.
PRESSING TOOLS: 30 Minute Free Demo, Thurs-Sat
Find out how specific pressing tools make construction pressing easier and
give garments a professional finish. Start with a well-dressed ironing board and then learn how to use point pressers, seam rolls and seam sticks, tailor's hams, clappers, press cloths and more.
