More Than A T-Shirt: From Basic To Creative

The t-shirt has become a sophisticated and must-have item for today's wardrobe--we all long for one that has the perfect cut. Ce's pattern addresses those fitting concerns and has been designed with a European high-cut underarm, ease in the bust area and extra width across the back shoulders. Bust and hip measurements will aid you in selecting the correct size so you can bring your t-shirt to class cut and sewn together at the shoulders. Further refinements will be made to the pattern as you learn to fit the t-shirt.. Also learn how to select the right knits for the pattern, especially those with lycra spandex, and how to tweak the pattern to compensate for the degree of stretch in the fabric. Sewing techniques are fast and easy with an emphasis on what is done in the clothing industry. Gain confidence by selecting the best notions and tools to aid you in your sewing. Once you have a basic, you can easily restyle the design and use creative sewing and embellishing techniques. Learn how to alter the neckline shape and calculate binding ratio; see where you can use decorative stitching, lettuce edging, cover stitch and various embellishment ideas.

The Casual Unstructured Jacket

How often have you wished that pattern companies would design clothes that fit real bodies or even help you make pattern adjustments? That's exactly what Cecelia will do in this workshop using her Classics Casual Jacket Pattern. Her Classics patterns are designed so the fit follows that of good ready-to-wear by providing the necessary ease the modern woman requires in the bust, waist, and hips. And, her unstructured, partially lined, easy-to-sew jacket is sure to become a wardrobe staple due to its relaxed, comfortable fit. Day one will give each participant the opportunity to be fitted with a fabric test copy of the jacket. Specific alteration suggestions will be given which will then be translated to flat pattern adjustments on your personal pattern. The afternoon will be devoted to a discussion of cutting, marking, and fusing interfacing. Day two will continue with fast and easy sewing techniques with specific emphasis on setting the collar and sleeves. Professional pressing will be emphasized in order to achieve a professionally finished jacket. Pattern
